The FBI raided Mind Foundry on January 20, 2022. Eight months later, after evaluating the organization, Minneapolis Public Schools chose to award them another contract. MPS had every reason to investigate. They chose to continue the partnership.

Minnesota House Education Finance Committee Testimony

Mahad Ibrahim testified before the state legislature on House File 3879 requesting $200,000 for after-school STEM programming. Committee Chair praised the program. Representatives discussed scaling the model statewide.

Committee Chair: "I've had a meeting with one of your partners, and I'm just so impressed with this program... I think you're doing amazing things. I would love to take some of these classes."

  • Cook Learn Lab - Chemistry through cooking (emulsification, binding)
  • Project Atlantis - Students colonize solar systems, design cities, build rockets
  • ROV Design - Remote-operated vehicles for Minnesota lake exploration

Mimi Ito, holding the MacArthur Foundation Chair at UC Irvine and chairing the MacArthur Connected Learning Research Network, wrote about the Mind Foundry partnership. Named Mahad Ibrahim as co-founder and referenced his prior work on the Digital Youth Project at UC Berkeley.

Documentation as Evidence

The government called Mind Foundry a "shell company." Shell companies don't generate legislative testimony transcripts where state representatives praise the programming. Shell companies don't produce program reports with named students, verbatim assessment answers, and measurable outcomes.

Shell companies don't get awarded contracts by Minneapolis Public Schools eight months after an FBI raid.

These documents exist because the work was real.
